Discover How to Use n/um Finishing Salts at Our Chicago Rubs & Rims Workshop

N/um has been very active at artisan markets, and one of the most common questions we hear is: “How do I use the N/UM salts?”
While we love sharing pairing suggestions and directing guests to our website and social media for recipes, we realized there’s an even better way to experience our salts: intimate, curated events where participants can taste our salts in dishes and learn about our ingredients, sourcing, and culinary techniques firsthand.
Earlier this month, we hosted our first Rubs & Rims Workshop in Chicago — a rub-making and tasting event designed to showcase our gourmet finishing salts and inspire new ways to use them at home.
The event was sold out with a waitlist, and it was an incredible day of learning, tasting, and connecting with our community.
Workshop Highlights
- Welcome Cocktail: Crafted with Buchu from our Red Wine & Buchu Salt, this refreshing gin cocktail set the tone for the evening.
- Chef-Led Rub-Making Demo: Participants learned how to make a blackened seasoning rub and took home their own creations to elevate their dishes.
-
Tasting Menu: Guests enjoyed bites paired with four signature salts:
- Steak: African Beechwood Smoked Salt
- Shrimp: Smoked & Rooibos & Truffle Salt
- Brownies: Merlot & Hibiscus Salt
-
Deviled Eggs: Smoked & Truffle Salt
Most importantly, the workshop fostered community, conversation, and exploration of flavor and culture, all through the lens of our artisan salts.
