Pulled Pork Tacos with Smoked Salt, Avocado & Chive

Cook Time: 1.5 – 2 hours (or use pre-cooked pulled pork)

Ingredients:

For the pork:

  • Pulled pork – 500g / 1.1 lb (slow-cooked or store-bought)
  • Garlic – 2 cloves, minced
  • Olive oil – 1 tbsp
  • N/UM African Beechwood Smoked Salt – 1½ tsp / 6g
  • Black pepper – to taste
  • Optional: cumin or smoked paprika – ½ tsp

For assembly:

  • Small flour or corn tortillas – 8
  • Avocado – 1, sliced
  • Red onion – ½, finely chopped
  • Fresh chives – 2 tbsp, finely chopped
  • Lime wedges – for serving
  • Extra N/UM Smoked Salt – for finishing

Instructions

  1. Prepare pork: If not already cooked, slow-cook pork shoulder with garlic, oil, smoked salt, and optional spices for 1.5–2 hours until pull-apart tender. Shred using forks.
  2. Warm tortillas: Heat in a dry pan or over flame until soft and slightly charred.
  3. Assemble tacos: Layer each tortilla with pulled pork, a few slices of avocado, chopped red onion, and chives.
  4. Finish: Sprinkle a pinch of N/UM Smoked Salt over the top just before serving for added texture and depth.
  5. Serve: With lime wedges and your favorite hot sauce or yogurt dressing on the side.

Recipe notes:

  • For extra richness, add a drizzle of smoked mayo or chimichurri.
  • Works well with leftover pork roast or braised brisket.
